About

Philadelphia County ARES (PCARES) supports the mission of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Red Cross serving Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks, Chester and Delaware Counties. Our primary mission is providing emergency communications support for SEPA Red Cross operations. Membership is open to anyone interested in serving the community. Amateur radio license is not required!

We collaborate with Red Cross in the area of disaster planning, operate radio nets, educate our membership and prepare them for emergency operations.

We train to support local disasters including hurricane, tornado, storm, flood, high water, blizzards, fire, explosion, building collapse, transportation accident and or other situations that causes human suffering or creates human needs that the victims cannot alleviate without assistance. Red Cross membership is not required but is helpful in getting access to facilities.

The ARRL Eastern Pennsylvania Section is composed of 34 counties in the eastern half of the state. The
Section is further divided into five districts. District 1 consisted of Bucks, Chester, Delaware,
Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties.

All amateurs interested in participating are invited to check into the Philadelphia County ARES Net every Sunday at 8:00 PM, hosted on the Phil-Mont Repeater System
